My spatulas have been on hiatus for the past 18 months as I felt the original design needed an update to meet my current standards for both design and finish. Over the past couple of months, I have taken nearly 7 years of process improvements and user feedback and packed all of it into a new design fitting of this heirloom tool. Its original design objective remains: a spring steel spatula that was both flexible and thin enough to effortlessly slide under anything that happened to be in your cast iron or steel pan.
From material choice to weight and balance, every aspect of the Original spatula has been refined. The handle is machined from solid brass, gently tapering towards the blade and textured for tactility. The blade is attached to the handle with two heat-coloured stainless steel M3 screws allowing for simple blade replacements. An heirloom tool should be repairable. Each spatula is hand finished to a soft lustre and engraved ‘Canada 2025’ on the back of the handle.
Each blade has an etched and brushed finish. Like a carbon steel knife, this spatula will patina with use and should be washed and dried after each use. The brass handle will also patina, darkening to a tone similar to the heat-coloured stainless steel screws that secure the blade. Simple care instructions are included.
Fish spatulas are available in right and left hand blades. The right hand blade is pictured. The left hand blade has the angle reversed.
