This s-grind gyuto is crafted from hand forged damascus carbon steel and hardened to 62 Rockwell C. Its wa handle is crafted from brass and ironwood. Both the brass and the ironwood have been glass bead blasted. On the brass the bead blasting creates a wonderful frosted finish that will darken with use. On the ironwood the bead blasting adds a subtle texture where the softer areas of the wood are abraded away. The blade has been hand rubbed to a satin finish and etched for contrast. Learn more about my unique s-grind geometry here

This handle has a unique construction using a variety of fasteners hidden inside the handle. Despite the exposed socket head cap screw on the butt of the handle it is not removable. See a video of the handles internal assembly here!

Each knife includes a handmade leather wrap which, like all Nordquist products, is crafted in-house. The case is made from 6oz oil tanned leather sourced from S.B. Foot Tanning Company, the principal supplier of leather for Red Wing Shoes. An auburn leather lace is woven into the supple leather, securing the knife inside. This simple case is as functional as it is elegant, offering safe storage for your new knife—or perhaps your old one!
